Arabica
Puk Damsgård
Arabica is Puk Damsgård's personal travelogue about being a frontier walker in his own life.
On his first trip to war-torn Yemen, Puk Damsgård meets a female doctor, and a friendship develops. The rebellious Shifa has painted his nails blue - and is planning a secret escape. The meeting will be the beginning of a long journey from Cairo, where the street dogs gallop after ghosts, towards Yemen's isolated coffee mountains and deserts. Puk Damsgård sails 4,800 nautical miles with the container ship Titan and travels 3,600 kilometers across Yemen. With her are diary entries from a royal Danish expedition that in the 18th century went on a voyage of discovery to the country, which was called The Happy Arabia.
